The Ordre des dentistes du Québec (ODQ) is the professional order for all dentists, including generalists and specialists, in the province. In Québec, the practice of dentistry is governed by the Dental Act and the Professional Code. ODQ members are also subject to the Code of Ethics of Dentists.
Mission
The ODQ was founded to protect the public. Its mission is to maintain quality dental services through adherence to high standards of practice and ethical conduct, and to promote oral health among Quebecers.
How it operates (political structure)
The Board of Directors is responsible for the general administration of the ODQ’s affairs and for the application of the provisions of the Professional Code and its corresponding regulations. The Board of Directors exercises all the rights, powers and prerogatives of the ODQ, except those of the members of the ODQ at the general meeting.
The Executive Committee is composed of members elected from among the members of the Board of Directors. Its role is to administer the ODQ’s day-to-day business, and it may exercise all the powers delegated to it by the Board of Directors. To manage its affairs, the ODQ also appoints standing and statutory committees, in accordance with the Professional Code.
