Tooth jewellery

Applying jewellery to teeth has certain risks.

For example:

  • breaking a tooth when applying the jewellery
  • irritating the oral mucosa and bleeding
  • swallowing or inhaling the jewellery while it is being applied
  • allergic reaction to products or metals used in the jewellery

This is not a simple cosmetic procedure by any means. It must be carried out in an appropriate environment under strict hygienic and infection-controled conditions, preceded by a dental examination.

The Ordre des dentistes du Québec advises against the application of tooth jewellery, given the risks it involves for your oral health. Consult your dentist before making a decision.
